Guided Rainforest Walks with
Ernie Raymont.
Atherton Blue Gum uses Ngadjonji elder, Ernie Raymont, grandson of
Molly
Raymont. He conducts guided
walking tours within the "Malanda Falls Rainforest
Reserve", explaining many of the traditional
Ngadjonji relationships to the rainforest environment.
We, the white people of Australia, are not proud of some of the
actions taken against the indigenous people of Australia, in the
early years. Ngadjonji Elder, Emma Johnston, is also the daughter of
Molly
Raymont. Read her account of the
"Butchers Creek massacre" around 1880.
Butchers Creek is on the Atherton Tablelands, in Far North
Queensland, Australia. It is now a small community at the base of Mt
Bartle Frere, which is the highest mountain in the state of
Queensland.
