out about the mining tragedy in 1921. Only 1.5 hrs from
Cairns and ten times the size of Uluru, makes this a very
special creation.
-
Marvel
at the restored 120 year old Tyrconnell
gold mine, with authentic accommodation, and discover why they abandoned it so quickly in 1942.
A tour of the restored and working stamping battery, gold
panning and informative talk can all be included.
-
Stroll the historic outback towns of Irvinebank and
Herberton,
and learn the history of the Regions Heart from 1880-1920. The
Loudoun House Museum in Irvinebank preserves this
history. The Museum was John Moffat's house. This remarkable man
from Scotland, was responsible for an empire that made a huge
contribution to Australia's GNP - some say 25%. The town of
Irvinebank, with a population now of 90, was the home of two
Queensland Premiers, one of whom went on to become Deputy Prime
Minister of Australia.
